My last few images
Here are a few images of works still in progress and ones that are finished. The full frontal Orchid is finished but the other side view is just shy of being done, both are on plexi and are 2'X3'. The yellow and redish orange orchid is not finished and is in need of some serious work to be considered finished, its 2'X4'. The other two, Lily and Iris, are finished for now but I'm planning on sanding and finishing again with another layer of sealant. Probably will have to do that for the african daisy and yellow orchid. This series of flowers has been challenging but very rewarding. I have stayed away from chalk pastel mainly due to the sound of using them. But with the help of an mp3 player I have found a new love for them. How they blend and can be so smooth. To me they look like soft oil paintings. Thanks for visiting my blog. Even though my class is over I'll be adding stuff from time to time so check back and leave a message when you can. Leave a name too or initials or nickname or whatever. Hate the annonymous thing.

Finished African Daisy
I'm putting this on my blog for fear that it doesn't fit in my car. Hope the details help it out. It is 4'X4' on wooden panel. Chalk pastel with layers of shellac.

Proposal
My proposal is to create a series of images of an orchid in different stages of growth. My first 4 are 14x14 and I will have 2 which will be 22x36 and maybe more 14x14 after I complete the 22x36 pieces. I am using acrylic on plexiglass. I am trying to create a bold image but one that requires the viewer to come in for a closer look at the subtle things in the work. One reason for painting on the back of the plexiglass is so that I have only limited control over the resulting image. I need to allow things to happen by themselves in way. Can't wait to see how all of them look together.

more
Here are some more details and full images. Some are the front of the plexi and some are the same area but where I painted on the back. It kind of nice because there is a kind of serendipity that happens when you are painting the back and then see the front. Some I like both sides. I'll have to try photographing them with light behind them. See what you think.

Some progress
I'm gonna post some details and full size but the flash is really doing a number on the photos so be warned. These are all 14X14, acrylic on plexiglass. Also another note, the protective film has not been removed so you are possibly seeing a little of that. I'm not removing it yet so as to protect the plexiglass. These are all straight painting, no transfers.
